When I fly on an airplane, I prefer to sit in an aisle seat as close to the front of the plane as possible. My second choice is window near the front. And if the flight is not to long I will take a middle seat to be closer to the front of the plane. But if the flight is 2 hours or longer the aisle or window seat is much more important than sitting near the front of the plane. Why do I want to be in the front of the plane? The main reason is so I can be one of the first to deplane when we reach the destination. This can be very important to help ensure I make my connecting flight. And who wants to spend any more time than is necessary on a plane? I like the aisle so I can get out of my seat when I desire without disturbing anyone else. I like to get up and walk around a little to keep the blood circulating to all my limbs. And I don't sleep well on a plane so someone who does may as well have the window seat. One tip about seat location. Go online and check your seat location and what is available. Most of the airlines open the exit row and some of the other held seats 24 hours before the flights scheduled departure. So I don't check in before this time as I am usually able to locate a better seat the day of my flight. then I check in and print my boarding pass.

As we approach the Thanksgiving Holiday I thought this quote was appropriate.

1) Before I fly I use Zicam. I am a firm believer in the efficacy of this product. For me it works. I also use it as soon as I get to my destination
2) I wash my hands often.
3) I try to avoid touching my nose eyes and mouth.
4) I use Airborne, which I think helps. I also take EmergenCee. To boost my immune system.
5) At the first sign I may be getting a cold, I draw a hot bath and sit there and sweat for about 15 minutes. I had a smart science teacher tell me that the cold virus can only survive in a very narrow temperature range and that by sitting in as hot a bath as is reasonable and drinking a cup of piping hot tea you can raise your core tempurature enough to wipe out the virus.
All of this seems to work for me.

This is a new experience for me. I am sitting in a brand new hotel room. I am the first person to use the room. It is a Springhill Suites by Marriott. I like the room layout. The bed is very comfortable. The TV is a flat screen HD. And the room has a small fridge and microwave. I have stayed at one other Springhill Suites and the room was not nearly as nice. I will let you know what i think of the rest of the experience later this week.

I am home for a day and a half. It is cold here in Jacksonville but nothing like Detroit. Tomorrow, Sunday I will fly to Auburn California. A tip to those of you who may be driving this week for Turkey Day. Give your car a good once over. Check your oil, tire pressure, brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant level and top of your windshield washer fluid. If you are not to handy, take your vehicle to a reliable shop and let them check everything for you. I little prevention can go a long way. Enjoy the low gas prices and drive safely.

Today I will work a full day and then fly home to Florida. So I have clicked and closed. I will try to post from the airport tonight. Sunday I will head to California. So it will be a short weekend at home. But it will be good to see my beautiful wife.

I have done most of my Christmas shopping. I used my Hilton rewards points to get gift cards. That is one perk of all the traveling I do. I get to keep all the hotel and airline reward points I earn. When I called into Hilton with some questions about my reward points and to reset my password I was pleasantly surprised by the level of customer service I received. The young man spoke English as his first language and he went beyond my requests and looked to optimize my rewards experience and actually found about 40,000 frequent flier miles I would have lost if he had not updated my account information. I think Hilton is focusing on customer service as a corporate culture. I can see the difference compared to other major chains.

Just a quick tip. Before I get in the security line at the airport. I basically empty my pockets into my carry-on bag (except mu paper currency and wallet). This serves two purposes. There is no chance of me forgetting to take something out of the bin after I get through the screening. Second it reduces the time spent actually going through the screening. It is frustrating to stand behind someone who acts like they had no clue what was going to happen during the screen. They made no preparation and take too much time to get things situated so they can eventually successfully clear security. This only bothers me when I am short on time and am pushing it to make my flight.
