Got a call yesterday afternoon and as a last minute semi-emergency deal I am flying to DC this morning. Will be there 2 days and go home for the weekend. The head back to DC for 3 weeks or so. Hoping to get home once or twice in the mean time. I am only taking carry on so US Airways will not get any bag fees from me and I refused to pay $10 to get a decent seat. Nickel and dime me too death. Oh the joys of being a Road Warrior!

just read an article that states that 2 out 3 flights that are delayed more than 15 minutes are due to back ups in New York. The government has put hourly caps on the number of flights at the New York airports and is now looking at auctioning those slot to the highest bidder. This seems like a recipe for higher airfares and pushing some of the smaller airlines out of the market and perhaps out of business. Not sure what the answer is, but if fuel prices keep rising we may see travel decrease on its own as fares continue to rise.
Today I get to take care of myself. I have neglected my teeth for a while and now I have some major work to get done.
- Don't forget the call tomorrow (Wednesday night).
My thoughts:
I think posting to my blog and to everyone else's' blog will be cut back to 2-3 times a week. But I will visit everyones' website each day and click through 3-4 pages. This will help everyones ranking and free up more time for getting things going in other areas.

I am at home and will be here for at least a week (hoping to stretch it into two, I really can use the break to recoup). The downside is that my wife is in Ukraine visiting her family. But the upside is that I will have time to rest and then focus on where I want to be and how I plan to get there.
Everyone stay the course, let us beat the odds and continue to work together after our official course is over. I know it is summer and we are all busy, but lets look to the greater good.
Sunday I will post to Hogan's Heroes with a date and time and call in details for our first conference call. No real agenda, just a time for us to meet and decide what we want our mastermind group to look like.
Most of the major airlines are planning to make double digit percentage cuts in their domestic capacity. This means fewer flights, more overbooking and more hassles for the passenger. Now, I understand that fuel cost are crushing the industry, and they need to do what they must to survive. Just be aware that the planning in advance will become more and more important. And with my job I often schedule my flights just a couple of days before I travel. I think the firm I work for will need to review the business model as this will become even more expensive and it will be difficult to get a flight home on Friday afternoon. More airlines have jumped on the bandwagon to charge for each checked bag. I think it would be better if they just increased the price of the ticket by $50 rather than annoying people with the nickel and dime BS.

Indian Airlines grounds flight attendants who are overweight. Too Fat to Fly Click on the link to see the 2 minute news clip then tell me what you think. Personally I think there should be guidelines in this regard. There is limited space on an airplane and the aisles are narrow. All to often when I am sitting in an aisle seat my seat gets bumped by a flight attendant who I am sure would be grounded in India. I am not talking about the cart, that I can understand. I am talking about when they are just walking up and down the aisle. Very aggravating.
Just read an article about a woman who has lived the past 9 years on a cruise ship, the QE2. She is 89 and has lived on the ship since shortly after her husband died. Check this link to see the story.
Loose lithium batteries are banned from your checked luggage. The TSA website says that you can have them in your carry-on, but not in your checked luggage. It appears the concern is with the potential risk of fire. So if you have rechargeable batteries keep them in your carry-on.
That is the message I just read from April. OK I wil post. Just got back to my hotel room after work and dinner. Will spend the weekend finishing up this job. If the weather is good I will probably take in a White Sox game on Sunday afternoon. When this transition is done I will have a week to a week and a half off. Much needed time to rest and recharge my batteries. Make it a great weekend!
Here's a little tip that I learned first hand. If you are staying at a hotel and realize that you left your cell phone charger at home don't run to the nearest Wal-Mart or Target to buy a new one. Go tothe desk and ask if you can look through the chargers they have in the lost & found. Odds are someone left a charger that fits your phone. The hotel will let you borrow it during your stay. Just return it when you are checking out.
Depending on how long the flight is, I think I'd pay the $10 for a good seat on the plane.... read more
